More Squares!!

Sebrina's Blanket
What a wonderful weekend. Beautiful weather, relaxation, what more could we ask for? And I got to crochet! The squares for Sebrina's blanket are coming right along...and the more I do the more I like! This wool is so vibrant and so colorful!

This square is like looking at a rainbow. I have the larger squares done, and the 8 rounders done, and ready to begin the 6-round squares.

Lil' Phoebe enjoyed the weekend, too! She got a bath and got to run and play in the yard WITHOUT HER LEASH! Freedom!

Here she is all bathed and dried, and looking really cute out on the screened in porch!

Sebrina's Blanket

Sebrina's Squares
I've been crocheting grannies again for a new project, Sebrina's Blanket. Well, it's more of a throw, crocheted in various colors of wool. I'm starting to get inspired by the yarn.

Five squares done, about 90 more to go!! I love crocheting these squares, it's very calming for me.

I am hoping the finished blanket will have a "Impressionist" look with all the colors in it. Sebrina sent me a picture of the Babette Blanket, which she loves, but also liked the style of my grannies. This I guess could be called my version of the Babette Blanket.

YarnoplentyThis is the Basket-O-Yarn I am using for her blanket...very bright and colorful!

I wanted to show off the clock which I commissioned Cade to paint for me. Cade can be found at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5014114. I love her work!! This is actually an old time punch clock I bought several years ago in an antique store. The outside of the clock was in such bad shape I had to sand it down and repaint it. I added the bottom ledge and the ball feet. When I discovered Cade on Etsy.com...I knew I had to send her my clock face to paint.

I always keep an eye on what Cade is adding to her shop!

Vintage Style Granny Square Purse

My crocheting takes me so many places, like back in time. When I was a kid about 8 or 9, I remember my grandmother crocheted a purple poncho for me and a granny square bag to match. I LOVED it! I wish I still had it! But I have fond memories of wearing it. The poncho had fringes all around it.
Well, this bag that I designed reminds me of that. The alternating square, which I call "Art Deco Granny" is one of my own. It fits so well with the 'classic' granny. Once I had the purse finished, I had an extra square left from where I was experimenting with color combinations...well...I had to do something with it. Hence, the "Tasseled Dangle". It's like icing on the cake!
I am selling this pattern in my etsy shop if interested, along with a scarf pattern. I used LionBrand Microspun. It is sooooo soft, almost silky feeling.

I have a new design brewing in my head. My sister has requested a diaper bag for a new arrival coming in July! So, I'm thinking something with the granny's would be perfect for her!
I'm so glad to be coming up on a long weekend...and am looking forward to working with some granny squares and enjoying some pretty weather!

I'm crazy about garter stitch.

Those who know me know how much I love color, lots of it!
I think one of my favorite things to knit is a scarf in a basic garter stitch. Mix up the colors and make a fun chained stitched fringe and it sets it off. This long slinky scarf is 9.5 feet long!! I used a variety of colors and yarns. The white mixed in gave it a prism look.

I think the fringes make it! This is a great in-between-project.

Basically you cast on 300 stitches on a size 10 circular needle and knit about 20 rows. Just switch out your colors every row. I always leave a long tail at the beginning and end of each row for the chain stitched fringes.

Shrug it off.

I recently finished another shrug...I'm rather pleased how it turned out. I used a soft acrylic yarn in a dusty blue color. I originally used the pattern out of the One Skein Wonder book, but have changed it around a bit to give more of a sleeve.

The buttons are actually vintage earrings from my collection! They are made of tiny dyed seashells. I think they are are fun to use on these little shrugs.
